Yay for Saturday night!!

by admin on Feb.07, 2010, under blog, photos

Hello there coffee fans.

Here’s a pic of me and Katie from last night at the Volleyball Reunion. It doesn’t really make sense to me and it doesn’t really have to.

look at us!!

look at us!!

Things are going well enough. I’m on my way to being ready to sell. Katie, Colin, Brenda B, Mac, Bonar, Reinhard, Ryan and my brother have been great help. I wouldn’t be able to manage this without you all.

So yeah, new tennant I got last summer screwed me. She stopped paying rent and I had to evict her. In the end she wasn’t heating the house so there was some pipe freezing and I can’t believe how dirty she made the house in only four months.

Decided I couldn’t handle this and decided to hand the house over to the bank. Found out after I called the bank that this would haunt me for years and decided I should try to sell. Called the bank to relay this. They said no problem and more than 24 hours later a property management company locked up my doors. Called CIBC and it turns out they didn’t relay my intentions to the right department fast enough and I was responsible for around 460 bucks worth of legal and property management fees.

Tried to fight this with the argument that I shouldn’t be responsible for shortcomings in the banks communication procedures. Seriously, why couldn’t anyone even have made a phone call?

So, after a week and a half I got in the house. Colin has been doing so much work for me. Fixing pipes, clearing out the trash and so on. It’s starting to look as good as it did after my four day disaster last summer. Hopefully good enough to sell.

Also found out that there’s this new program– Ontario Tire Stewardship program. They approved me to have all my 100 or so old tires picked up for free!! Yay!!

Things are moving along. I hate CIBC but yeah, things are getting better. Don’t have such chest pains from the stress anymore.

Thanks everyone!!

It’s a Christmas Wonderland!

by admin on Dec.18, 2009, under blog, photos

Just thought I’d post a few pics of the decorations I recently noticed in my living room.

It started when I noticed the popsicle-stick thing. After asking Katie what it was she pointed out it was a christmas tree. I couldn’t tell it was green.

The second picture is our jew lights courtesy of my housemate kate.

The third picture is of the little tree Tom found at the side of the road when he was drunk.

The last pic is a little statue that has been in this house for ages. Not really a christmas decoration but still, he’s a photogenic little guy.

Enjoy!

Very nice piece of graffiti. Ok, maybe not nice as I hate all graffiti but at least it’s entertaining.

You really have to wonder what exactly was going through the vandal’s mind when he wrote this.

Found on a bench on College Sreet when Katie and I were on our way home from drinks at dee’s.

so is the bench firm or silken?

Sunglasses indoors?

by admin on Mar.21, 2009, under blog

Hi everyone.

Now, I know what you’re thinking. When you’re a rock star, you have to look the part. Sunglasses are cool–and the use of them can have two functions. They increase the mystery and coolness factor but also stage lighting can be bright. As someone who has light issues, I’d be inclined to wear sunglasses on stage. That said, I have no idea how this guy had his little accident. So funny–I think I watched it three times. Enjoy.

Failblog is one of my favourite sites–you should definitely check it out if you don’t already know about it. It is good for a smile when you need one.

Then there’s the whole lip sync issue. I think it’s in China that it’s illegal–they classify it as false or deceiving advertising. In the comments from this video someone said the guy was from Portugal. I know in the Czech Republic it’s pretty standard. It’s a little funny too when you have older singers like Helena Vondrackova lip syncing songs from the 70s because she’s in her 50s and probably doesn’t sound like a 20 year old anymore.

What do you all think? Anybody got any exciting plans for the weekend? Esther and I are gonna have a cleaning party tomorrow and I’m gonna get nice and friendly with my mop. Sweet mop action! Yeah!

I’m doing it because i can

by gerald on Feb.16, 2009, under blog, photos

I’m doing it because i can, originally uploaded by mycoffeepot.

Ah, technology these days. Pretty damn impressive.

First off i owe wordpress an apology. Some of you may have heard me bashing it in one of our early podcasts. (www.musicmaking.ca–will put exact episode number here in post) I still don’t like how everything wordpress looks like wordpress but i have to say it was pretty damn quick and easy to get a content-rich site up and running using it.

Take a second to think about how amazing this is. I took the picture, wrote and posted this entirely from my bed using my wifi-enabled smartphone. I can add content directly on the fly from anywhere i can get a phone signal.

May not sound so amazing but only 2 oe 3 years ago a lot of people would have been pretty britches-shaken.

First Post! First Post!!

by gerald on Feb.15, 2009, under blog

I had a thought the other day while I was walking through the food court thingie on my last day as a telesales bum. What do Chinese people eat for breakfast?

The reason this question popped into my head is that it was quite early and there was a Chinese restaurant that was closed. Some generic crappy everything’s fried kinda place but it was closed. If it had been open for a breakfast special, what would it serve?

Then again, one must consider that the food you get in those franchised chinese restaurants isn’t exactly authentic anyway so it probably wouldn’t give any illumination into the breakfast tables of Chinese if it had had a special.

So there it is. I’ve been to a family dinner with a Chinese family and totally know what dinner food is all about, but what about breakfast? Anybody to help me with this?
